THE THEATER BECOMES A MEETING PLACE

In the box at the Lucerne Theater, the artistic team explores how group dynamics can be used positively and activates the city's social networks. "This participatory process has resulted in a total work of art in public space," says deputy artistic director Sandra Küpper. "It's extremely enjoyable to see the theater become a creative meeting place that is created together in this way."

PROGRAM

"The program has become extremely diverse," says production dramaturge Nikolai Ulbricht happily. "It ranges from an open rehearsal of the Pilatus Yodeling Club to a martial arts training session for the Aikido Kids to a reading about Racial ProKling."In addition, there will be concerts, lectures, movie nights, and even a bingo night. This is also reflected in the design of the rooms.

The project has really taken off in recent weeks. "At first, we wrote directly to clubs and asked if they would like to participate,"says Ulbricht. But soon, the project became the talk of the town.

SOCIAL SCULPTURE

The Lucerne Theater's "box" is a multifunctional space with flexible walls that blur the lines between inside and outside. For about two and a half months, a third place emerges in the middle of the city. Stage, bar, exhibition, greenhouse, gaming hall, and much more. A shell that transforms, constantly evolves, and fills with content depending on the interests and characteristics of the participating institutions. A participatory process as the basis for exchange between the Lucerne Theater and the city. Together, they build, curate, plant, draw, and rehearse.

Individual personalities, institutions, associations, and a wide variety of people from the city are working together with the Lucerne Theater to create a work of art that tells the story of communities, the diversity of Lucerne's cultural scene, and represents the diverse social networks.
