Who, what, and why?
TheaterTIER GbR is an interdisciplinary collective.
We develop site-specific performances, exhibitions, festivals, and participatory projects at the intersection of theater, film, and visual arts, mostly in cooperation with theaters, museums, or in a university context.
PROGRAM
The most immersive formats are based on intensive project research and range from large-scale public interventions to intimate solo pieces. Motivated by personal questions, our works mostly deal with socially relevant topics such as our colonial and postcolonial heritage, the ecological crisis, social and societal imbalances, or technological disruption. Our target audiences are children, young people, and adults. In 2020, Jens Burde and Vanessa Valk were awarded the Freiburg Reinhold Schneider Prize for their "interdisciplinary and installation-based performances that emotionally engage the audience and create poetic, material worlds."
